League of Legends has came through for the community once again with this addition of an amazing new champ to play. Varus, The Arrow of Retribution. Varus is a ranged Attack Damage focused champion who combines traditional AD carry gameplay with that of a caster. Whether sieging opponents from afar or closing in for the kill, Varus is poised to leave his mark in your games.
Varus passive is Living Vengeance on champion kill or assist, he gains 40% attack speed for 6 seconds. When a minion is killed, he gains 20% attack speed for 3 seconds. This is a very good passive for an AD carry for early game play. This allows you to have more attack speed to get a couple hits off when harassing the enemy AD carry.
His Q is Piercing Arrow, (First Cast): He starts drawing back his next shot, gradually increasing its range and damage. (Second Cast): He fires, dealing physical damage, reduced by 15% per enemy hit. The draw back to his Q is when preparing to shoot, he cannot auto attack or use abilities, and his movement speed is slowed by 20%. After 4 seconds, Piercing Arrow fails but refunds half its mana cost. This is a very good ability allowing him to siege on towers and get good harass in. This ability will also be able to steal golems and other important jungle creeps with ease.
His W is Blighted Quiver, his basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and apply Blight for 6 seconds stacks 3 times. His other abilities detonate Blight, dealing magic damage equal to a percentage of the target’s maximum health per stack. This is one of the best passives that have been made for League of Legends for an AD carry. He is able to use his passive of increased attack speed with this passive and it will chunk the enemy player your fighting against.
His E is Hail of Arrows, he fires a hail of arrows that deals physical damage and desecrates the ground for 4 seconds. Desecrated Ground reduces healing effects by 50% and slows enemy movement speed. This E is just like Miss Fourtune’s AOE attack. It is a good slow when you’re going for a kill against a player and reducing the healing the player gets back is a great addition.
Finally Varus ultimate, he flings out corruption that deals magic damage and immobilizes the first enemy champion hit for 2 seconds. The corruption then spreads towards nearby uninfected enemy champions, applying the same damage and immobilize if it reaches them. The corruption will continue to spread until there are no further unaffected targets in range. This is similar to a Morgana ult. I can see this being super powerful, we can see how good morganas ult his, while this one is even better.
To sum everything up, Varus looks to be an amazing new champ to the league of legends roster and surely will dominate upcoming tournaments if played right. We are looking forward to see how the pro’s like to play him.
